In the Kozan district of Adana, 4-year-old Mina Gül, who had a candy lodged in her windpipe at a hospital cafeteria, was saved by nurse Melek Bulut using the Heimlich maneuver. Gülşah Ünüvar, who had come to Kozan State Hospital yesterday for a report, was waiting in line at the outpatient clinic while her daughter Mina Gül and her mother Fikran Durgel went to the cafeteria. There, the candy Mina was eating became lodged in her windpipe. Her grandmother took Mina, who was struggling to breathe, to the emergency room.

Nurse Melek Bulut, with 13 years of experience, performed the Heimlich maneuver and removed the candy. The moments were captured on security camera. Gülşah Ünüvar, whose daughter narrowly escaped death, thanked the nurse. The hospital administration presented a certificate of appreciation to nurse Melek Bulut.
