In Hatay, teams that started an investigation following a missing person report from the relatives of 61-year-old Meliha Sarıkaya, who could not be reached, discovered blood traces in the house and that the bathroom had been dug up. Following this, her 77-year-old husband, Bekir Sarıkaya, confessed in his statement that he had killed his wife by hitting her on the head with an axe and had buried her after digging up the bathroom.
A chilling murder incident occurred in the Gökdere neighborhood of Erzin district in Hatay. After the relatives of Meliha Sarıkaya (61) could not reach her, they reported her missing yesterday, prompting the gendarmerie teams to initiate an investigation.
TRACES IN THE BATHROOM GAVE AWAY
Teams that went to the couple's home asked Bekir Sarıkaya (77) where his wife was. After Bekir Sarıkaya allegedly gave contradictory statements, the gendarmerie conducted an examination in the house and discovered blood traces and that the bathroom had been dug up.

After Bekir Sarıkaya confessed in his statement that he killed his wife by hitting her on the head with an axe and buried her in the bathroom, work was initiated to recover the body.

Teams that opened the dug area in the bathroom reached the lifeless body of Meliha Sarıkaya. After the examination at the scene, Meliha Sarıkaya's lifeless body was taken to the morgue of the Adana Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy.
ARRESTED ALONG WITH THE AXE
The gendarmerie arrested murder suspect Bekir Sarıkaya with the axe believed to have been used in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
