GROUND COLLAPSE IN THE BASEMENT
The incident occurred last night in the basement of the four-story building located on Draman Cami Street in Derviş Ali Neighborhood. Allegedly, a section of approximately 2 meters of the floor in the living room of the apartment collapsed for unknown reasons. The homeowner, who panicked during the collapse, reported the situation to the fire department and municipal teams. It has been learned that there are a total of 14 apartments in the building. The cause of the collapse in the living room will be determined after a technical examination by municipal teams.
"THE FLOOR WHERE I SIT WAS SOIL"
The homeowner, Havva Öztekin, stated, "Last night, the floor of the house collapsed half a meter down. The place where I walked in the house was on top of the soil. Naturally, we were scared; while walking in the house, my foot suddenly went down. I have been living in this building since I was 7 years old. I didn't know that the floor here was soil. The floor where I sit was soil. There was a building next to us that was demolished 7-8 years ago. After that building was demolished, I suspect the ground took in water from below. Water was coming from underneath, and I stuck some things there. My fear is that if the contractor built columns on top of the soil, the building could collapse as it is. I woke everyone up in the morning," she said.
