CHP Erzincan Deputy Mustafa Sarıgül addressed the Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak during the budget discussions in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, calling for the abolition of the offside rule in football and for Super League matches to be broadcast live and free on TRT 1.

While discussions continue regarding the 2026 budget at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), a striking proposal came from CHP Erzincan Deputy Mustafa Sarıgül concerning the budget of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"LET'S ABOLISH THE OFFSIDE"
Taking the floor regarding the ministry's budget, Sarıgül called on Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, arguing that fundamental changes need to be made to football rules.
Stating that the offside rule reduces the pace of modern football, Sarıgül expressed that Turkey could lead the world in abolishing the offside rule.
Sarıgül said, "Mr. Minister, take a step to abolish the offside. Let the offside be removed, and let faster football come."
"LEAGUE MATCHES SHOULD BE BROADCAST ON TRT 1"
Pointing out that the broadcast of league matches on TRT 1 without a subscription is a demand from millions of citizens, Sarıgül also called out, "Let league matches be on TRT 1, so everyone can watch with peace of mind."
