Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan and Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran signed a cooperation protocol between İŞKUR and BİK to develop qualified labor and employment in the media sector.

The cooperation protocol between the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) and the Press Advertising Agency (BİK) has been signed.

The signing ceremony held at the Presidency's Directorate of Communications was attended by Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran, İŞKUR General Manager Samet Güneş, and BİK General Manager Abdulkadir Çay. Minister Işıkhan and Head of Communications Duran signed the cooperation protocol aimed at developing employment and workforce in the communication and media sector. The protocol covers a total of 1075 press enterprises within the official announcement and advertising ecosystem, enabling training and workforce development activities for these institutions.

"WILL MEET THE SECTOR'S NEED FOR QUALIFIED WORKFORCE AND EMPLOYMENT"

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Işıkhan emphasized that through İŞKUR, they continue to carry out Active Labor Force Programs for many sectors with great sensitivity and success in order to train qualified workforce and provide employment, stating, "In this context, with the cooperation protocol we signed with the Press Advertising Agency in 2016, we successfully concluded the On-the-Job Training Program in 2021 for those working or wishing to work in the media and communication field. Within the scope of the 'Journalism Training Program,' 3,635 people benefited from on-the-job training programs organized in professions related to journalism. This protocol, which we will sign together with our Directorate of Communications and which I believe will further strengthen inter-institutional coordination and cooperation, is capable of meeting the sector's need for qualified workforce and employment. The protocol will enable the more effective implementation of our active labor force programs, especially for our university students, through job and career counseling services, job club activities, courses, and training. The duration of our On-the-Job Training Programs will continue to be applied as 9 months, as before. Our Directorate of Communications is taking significant steps to strengthen inter-institutional coordination, increase strategic communication capacity, and further advance Turkey's communication power nationally and internationally. The protocol we signed today is one of the concrete examples of this understanding."

DURAN: WILL MAKE A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO STRENGTHENING THE ANATOLIAN MEDIA

Head of Communications Duran noted that, with the impact of new communication technologies and digitalization, both people's habits and the structure of communication and media are rapidly changing, adding, "Consequently, the quality of human resources in media is also changing and transforming. As the Directorate of Communications, we see both the structural strengthening of media organizations and the support of human resources as a strategic priority. Accordingly, we carry out multidimensional efforts, from improving the working conditions of press members to their professional development. Through practices such as developing press card processes, strengthening accreditation mechanisms, and supporting our journalists working in the field during disasters and crises, we contribute to the media operating on a stronger ground. We strive to support our stakeholders in the communication world with our programs, training, and publications. Additionally, the digitalization of local media and the development of relations with international media are among our priority areas of work. I believe this project will make a significant contribution to strengthening especially the local press, particularly the Anatolian media."
