The minimum wage increase will be determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission. The commission, which held its first meeting on December 10, will hold its second meeting on Monday, December 16. The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan, was attended by the Turkish Confederation of Trade Unions (TÜRK-İŞ) representing the workers and the Turkish Confederation of Employer Unions (TİSK) representing the employers. The commission will hold its second meeting on December 16. HOW IS THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE DETERMINED?The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which consists of 15 members, with five representatives each from workers, employers, and the government, as required by law. The commission meets on the dates determined in December as part of its work to determine the new minimum wage. Chaired by one of the members designated by the ministry, the commission convenes with the participation of at least 10 members and makes decisions by majority vote. In the event of a tie, the side with the president is considered to have the majority.
