Thirty-nine people were detained in an illegal reproductive cell operation linked to Turkey, the TRNC, Albania, and Georgia. It emerged that the tip-off that brought down the gang was made by the husband of organization leader Hacer T. after he learned he had been cheated on. It was learned that the individuals sent young women abroad to sell their eggs and that there were money transfers amounting to 2 million euros. Meanwhile, it was determined that those who wanted to have children this way were given the answer "We can find any type" to requests for "blonde hair, blue eyes."

Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, upon a tip-off made through CİMER, launched an operation by teams from the Istanbul Police Department Migration Smuggling and Border Gates Branch Directorate; the number of detainees in the operation has so far risen to 39.

41 WOMEN, 811 EGG SALES

Police teams reached findings that an illegal reproductive cell trade linked to Turkey, the TRNC, Albania, and Georgia was being carried out in an organized manner. As a result of evaluating HTS and MASAK records, overseas travel information, and other evidence obtained, it was understood that Turkish citizen women were directed abroad and sold eggs in return for financial benefit.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that a total of 811 egg sales were carried out by 41 women. In a simultaneous operation conducted in 14 provinces including Istanbul, legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 53 suspects, including 1 organization leader, 5 organization managers, 41 donor women, 2 obstetrics and gynecology specialists, and 4 travel organizers. So far, 39 of the suspects have been caught and detained. It was reported that one suspect was determined to be in prison, and that efforts continue to capture a total of 14 suspects, including 7 suspects determined to be abroad.

THE TIP-OFF WAS MADE BY THE GANG LEADER'S SPOUSE

It was learned that one of two separate tip-offs was made by the spouse of gang leader Hacer T., and that the unnamed tipster reported that pharmacist Muammer T., with whom the spouse had an illicit relationship, was engaged in "reproductive cell trade." Teams evaluating the tip-off determined, after their work, that a doctor sent women to in vitro fertilization centers in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for egg retrieval.

2 BILLION EUROS OF MONEY TRAFFICKING

Teams determined that organizers bought each woman's eggs for between 60 and 80 euros and sold them to the IVF center for around 100 euros; in this way, they revealed that a money flow of approximately 2 million euros had been created.

Teams determined that organizer Hacer T. took photographs and images of the women and showed them to those seeking eggs, and it was determined that the lover of the woman, a former pharmacist, procured the medications to be used in the procedures.

THEY TOOK ORDERS SAYING "BLONDE HAIR, BLUE EYES"

Teams also revealed, again after technical and physical surveillance, that those who wanted to have children and resorted to this path requested "blonde hair, blue eyes" genes, and that in response they received the answer "We can find all kinds." They determined that the women donors, ranging from the youngest at 22 to the oldest at 33, went to the TRNC, Albania, and Croatia a total of 811 times.

EYE-HAIR CRITERIA FROM ALBANIA AND GEORGIA

In details regarding the gang that sold reproductive cells (eggs) and was busted by Istanbul police, it was understood that clinics in Georgia and Albania did not take eggs from women outside the colored eyes and blonde hair criteria. A doctor named Hayat İ., from a TRNC clinic, was also detained, while it emerged that donor women going to Cyprus, Albania, and Georgia obtained at least two million euros in unlawful profit in total from the procedures in question.

After the completion of the work, teams conducting an operation in 14 provinces centered in Istanbul have so far caught and detained a total of 39 suspects, including organization leader Hacer T., 3 organizers, 3 doctors, and 32 donor women.

While the interrogation of the caught suspects at the police continues, efforts to capture 14 fugitive suspects are ongoing.
