Castorone, one of the world's largest and most advanced pipe-laying vessels, safely completed its passage through the Bosphorus. The transit of the giant ship was captured from the air by a drone.
The natural gas pipeline laying vessel named "Castorone", flying the Bahamas flag, which was involved in natural gas pipeline works in Romania and previously operated in Turkey's Black Sea natural gas fields, passed through the Bosphorus in the morning hours.
BOSPHORUS CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
Drawing attention with its enormous dimensions, the Bahamas-flagged vessel is 325 meters long and 39 meters wide. Entering the Bosphorus at 05:40, the ship was escorted by the Nene Hatun, primarily under the Coast Guard, as well as Coast Guard 5, Rescue 3, Rescue 7, Rescue 14, and Rescue 6 vessels. During its north-south transit, the Bosphorus ship traffic was temporarily closed in both directions. The passage, carried out under intense security measures, experienced no incidents.
BOSPHORUS LINE REOPENED TO TRAFFIC
It was learned that Castorone, which previously operated in Turkey's Black Sea natural gas fields, will proceed towards the port of Piraeus in Greece after the Bosphorus passage. Following the giant ship's transit, the closed Bosphorus line was reopened to traffic.
