The teacher friend of Fatma Nur Çelik, who lost her life due to a knife attack by her student in Çekmeköy, stated, "There is misinformation on social media about her son having leukemia. Her son is 11 years old and perfectly healthy. He also knows that he lost his mother. He did not attend the ceremony at school today, but he will participate in his mother's funeral tomorrow. He said, 'I will read a Fatiha, grandmother.'"
A ceremony was held at the school where teacher Fatma Nur Çelik, who was stabbed to death by her student in Çekmeköy, Istanbul, worked. Çelik was bid farewell on her final journey in tears by hundreds of attendees.
Yesterday, a 11th-grade student F.S.B. at Borsa Istanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School injured teachers Fatma Nur Çelik (44) and Z.A., as well as student S.K., with a knife he had with him. Despite all interventions, teacher Fatma Nur Çelik lost her life. A ceremony was held today at the school where she worked for Fatma Nur Çelik. The teacher's coffin, wrapped in the Turkish flag, was brought to the schoolyard. Çelik was bid farewell on her final journey in tears during the ceremony. Deputy Minister of National Education Nazif Yılmaz, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız, the teacher's family, relatives, many educators, hundreds of students, and citizens attended the ceremony. It was observed that the relatives of Fatma Nur's coffin struggled to stand.
"ANYONE CAN BRING A CUTTING TOOL THROUGH THE DOOR"
Hatice Dindar Göksel, a teacher at another school, said, "I am very sad. This could happen to any of us; this security issue is really an important factor. It is not normal for children to be able to enter schools with any cutting tool while swinging their arms and legs. I don't know, I think about my friends, my teacher Fatma Nur, and her child. I am very sad; let this be the last, and I sincerely hope that these security measures will be increased. Because we are experiencing such a problem in our own school as well. I believe that everyone should not be able to enter the school comfortably. We don't have much security at school either. Anyone can bring any cutting tool through the door. Sometimes we conduct searches in schools. Children express that they feel the need to carry such things due to the area they live in. Sometimes they may have cutting tools, knives, or blades on them," she stated.
"PLEASE FIND A SOLUTION NOW"
Teacher Filiz Bulut said, "The wound of that friend is in my heart. Just think; how did her mother's heart burn? I am very filled with emotions, very sad. Please find a solution now. As a teacher, as a mother, if I am screaming, I beg those who are dedicated to this job and are competent in it to find a solution. Let people not kill each other," she said.
"HER SON WILL ATTEND HIS MOTHER'S FUNERAL TOMORROW"
Teacher Nefise Koçak from the same school said, "We are experiencing the sadness of losing Fatma Nur. There is misinformation on social media about her son having leukemia; that is not true. Her son is 11 years old and quite healthy. He knows that he has lost his mother. He did not come to the ceremony at school today, but he will attend his mother's funeral tomorrow. He said, 'I will read a Fatiha, grandmother.' His grandmother spoke to me beside him," she said.
"TEACHERS SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID OF THEIR STUDENTS"
Teacher Nefise Koçak, who said they want to go to school without fear, stated, "We want teachers to go to school without fear; that is what we want, nothing else. We do not want teachers to be afraid of their students. That is what we want, nothing else," she expressed.
Furthermore, it was learned that the funeral of teacher Fatma Nur Çelik will be buried at Musalla Cemetery after the noon prayer to be held tomorrow in Konya.
