A motionless male body was found off the pier of a site in the Darıca district of Kocaeli. Teams that arrived upon notification retrieved the body from the sea and took it to the Forensic Medicine Institution. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.

The incident occurred around 14:00 today, when those who saw the motionless male on the surface of the sea near a pier of a site on Yelkenkaya Street in the Piri Reis neighborhood reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, coast guard, AFAD, police, and health teams were dispatched to the area. The body, which was taken out of the sea by the teams and placed on a boat, was brought to the pier.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED REGARDING THE INCIDENT

In the initial examination, the body, determined to be in its 50s, showed signs of decomposition. The body was taken to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institution at Gebze Fatih State Hospital for determination of the cause of death and identification. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
