In Ankara's Keçiören district, a dump truck belonging to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) crashed into two other dump trucks due to a brake system malfunction. Two workers lost their lives in the accident. ABB President Mansur Yavaş said in a statement about the incident, 'We are deeply saddened.'
During a road opening operation in the Bağlum district of Ankara's Keçiören, a brake system failure in a haulage truck controlled by Ömer Sütçü, belonging to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), caused the truck to roll downhill, first hitting a haulage truck driven by Emre Çelik and then another haulage truck.
2 WORKERS LOST THEIR LIVES
The impact caused a fire in the vehicles. Upon notice, numerous fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Despite all interventions by health teams, Ömer Sütçü and Emre Çelik lost their lives in the accident. The bodies were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy procedures, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
Eyewitness Atilla Tüter said about the accident, "The vehicle coming from above had a brake failure due to excessive load. When it hit the first vehicle, it pushed it off the road, then hit the second vehicle and overturned it. After overturning, a fire broke out. Unfortunately, our friends inside burned to death. May Allah not let anyone experience this; it is a tough sector. This burden must be lifted from Ankara, the tonnage must come to Ankara. After the accident, citizens came. No one could reach them; the friends inside died from burns."
STATEMENT FROM MANSUR YAVAŞ: WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED
