The Group Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in Çorum City Council, Selim Dölcü, responded to the criticisms directed at him by the Republican People's Party (CHP) Group by addressing Abdullah Öcalan as "Mr. Öcalan."
The discussions regarding the new process that began after MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's calls to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan continue, while a "Mr. Öcalan" incident occurred within the MHP.
During the session, CHP Group Chairman of the Provincial General Assembly Sadettin Akgül criticized the expulsion of the lieutenants who said, "We are soldiers of Atatürk," while also reacting to the attempt to bring Abdullah Öcalan to the assembly.
It was noteworthy that MHP Çorum Provincial General Assembly Group Chairman Selim Dölcü referred to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan as "Mr. Öcalan" while responding to Sadettin Akgül.
MHP MEMBER ISSUED A CORRECTION
MHP Provincial General Assembly Group Chairman Selim Dölcü stated that he used an unintended word due to a slip of the tongue during the Provincial General Assembly session held yesterday, and made a new statement to the public under the title of 'correction and apology.'
Here is that statement:
"On February 3, 2025, during a part of my speech in the Provincial General Assembly session, I unintentionally used a word due to a slip of the tongue, and a smear campaign is being conducted against me and my party because of this. Everyone who listened to my entire speech will understand what I meant to say. What we said yesterday is the same as what I am saying today.
Abdullah Öcalan is the head of terrorists and a baby killer. I apologize to the entire Nationalist-Idealist community and the Great Turkish Nation for bringing such a topic to the agenda and for occupying my organization with such a matter."
