A tragic incident occurred in Pueblo, America. LaVonne Hoff, a 76-year-old dementia patient, was attacked by dogs roaming freely in her home and lost her life.
Police officials found her body in the house where LaVonne lived with her daughter Jessica in February. Upon investigation, it was determined that Jessica had left her mother, who required constant care, alone with 24 dogs while she went out to take care of some errands.
Police teams that arrived at the scene found a large number of dogs roaming freely inside the house. Authorities stated that there were a total of 24 dogs in the house where the attack took place. Additionally, 30 more dogs were found in a second house owned by Jessica. According to the police, some of the dogs were living in poor health conditions.
As part of the investigation, 47-year-old Jessica Hoff was arrested. Jessica faces charges of criminal negligence resulting in the death of a vulnerable adult. She will also be tried for aggravated cruelty to 54 separate animals. Jessica is expected to appear in court on March 27.
This incident has become the latest link in a chain of dog attacks that have occurred in America recently. Last August, a woman named Davina Corbin in California was killed after being attacked by 25 Great Danes while hiking. In December, a man in San Diego was torn apart and killed by his own three XL bully dogs.
In the UK, since February 2024, it has been illegal to own XL bully dogs without a special permit. Stricter regulations regarding the ownership of such dangerous dogs are also being demanded in the US.
