With the new regulation published in the Official Gazette by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, tourism facilities are now required to obtain a license document to play music in their common areas. Businesses will obtain the necessary document from the relevant federations and add it to their operating certificate applications. Facilities must fulfill their obligations by December 31, 2026.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has enacted a new regulation regarding the use of music in tourism facilities. With the communiqué amendment published in the Official Gazette, it is now mandatory to obtain a license certificate for playing music in the common areas of tourism facilities.
According to the new regulation, facilities must present the music license certificate, obtained from the relevant federations operating under Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works, in their facility license applications.
LICENSE CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT INTRODUCED
The Ministry will separately determine the federations authorized to issue license certificates and the details of the implementation. The regulation will cover music broadcasts in the common use areas of hotels, holiday villages, and other tourism establishments.
DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2026
Tourism establishments must complete the necessary music license certificates by December 31, 2026, at the latest. Facilities that fail to fulfill their obligations by this date will be subject to action under the relevant legislation.
