In Aydın, a bug was removed from the stomach of Sabri Kocaçoban, a hearing and speech impaired individual who went to the hospital with abdominal pain. Doctors surgically removed the bug, which had clung to and bitten the stomach wall despite the stomach acid, while experts warned that those sleeping in nature during the summer months should be careful.
Sabri Kocaçoban, a hearing and speech impaired person living in the village of Anbarcık in the Efeler district of Aydın, who engages in farming and shepherding on the plateau where he goes in the summer, began experiencing stomach pain. Initially thought to be stomach pain due to cold, this condition persisted for a long time, and he was brought to Atatürk State Hospital by his relatives.
A BUG WAS FOUND ON THE STOMACH WALL During the examination at the hospital, it was determined that Kocaçoban had experienced a very rare event and was suffering from stomach pain due to an insect that had traveled from his mouth down to his stomach. It was discovered that the insect, which could withstand stomach acid, had attached itself to the patient's stomach wall and bitten it. The insect was successfully removed from the patient's stomach through an operation performed by surgeon Dr. Cağrı Coşkun.
Experts recommended that those sleeping in natural environments in summer, especially in regions with high temperatures, be cautious.
"WHAT WE NEVER IMAGINED HAPPENED TO US" Nihat Kocaçoban, stating that his brother has hearing and speech impairments but is quite fit in terms of physical health, said, "My brother couldn't study due to his disability, he earns his living through farming and animal husbandry. He doesn't complain about minor issues or go to the doctor. When this incident occurred, he complained of stomach pain. We waited for a while, thinking it would get better. However, as the pain intensified, we went to Aydın Atatürk State Hospital and were examined by Dr. Çağrı Çoşkun. The doctor who examined our patient made an interesting finding. He said there was an insect in the patient's stomach and that under normal conditions, insects cannot survive stomach acid, but this insect had bitten the patient's stomach wall. We didn't want to believe what the doctor said, but we were surprised when we later saw the photos taken from my brother's stomach. Our patient was taken into surgery. He recovered his health after Mr. Çağrı's operation. It would be beneficial for those living especially in rural areas to be careful during the summer months," he said.
