A nurse named Şengül Ayyıldız, who was walking on the sidewalk in Küçükçekmece, lost her life after being struck by a rapidly approaching vehicle.
Last night, E.S. (19), who was driving quickly on Atatürk Street in the Atakent neighborhood of Küçükçekmece district in Istanbul, lost control while trying to overtake the vehicle in front and drove onto the sidewalk. During this time, the car hit Şengül Ayyıldız (55), who was walking on the sidewalk and working as a nurse at Atakent 3rd Stage Family Health Center.
ŞENGÜL NURSE LOST HER LIFE
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Nurse Ayyıldız was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the initial intervention by the medical teams. Despite all interventions here, Ayyıldız lost her life.
Ayyıldız's funeral will be sent to Tokat for burial after a ceremony to be held this evening at the Istanbul Cemevi Education and Culture Foundation in the district.
THE DRIVER WAS ARRESTED
E.S., who was taken into custody at the scene, was arrested and sent to prison after the procedures at the police station.
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM THE PROVINCIAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE
The Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate published a condolence message stating, "Şengül Ayyıldız, who served as a nurse at Atakent 3rd Stage Family Health Center, has passed away. As the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate family, we wish God's mercy upon the deceased and condolences to her family and loved ones."
'THE ROADS WERE SLIPPERY'
Eyewitness Recep Gençay, who described how the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and hit Ayyıldız, said, "Since it rained lightly in the evening, the roads were slippery. A driver lost control after overtaking the car in front and drove onto the sidewalk, hitting the nurse who was walking at that moment. We provided the first intervention after the accident. Her condition was serious. We informed the medical teams. She was taken to the hospital."
