THE ANNUAL INCREASE IN CPI FOR FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WAS 30.20%
The annual changes in the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were; a 30.20% increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, a 27.72% increase in transportation, and a 65.54% increase in housing. The effects of the relevant main groups on the annual change were 7.60% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 4.51% for transportation, and 9.22% for housing.
THE MONTHLY CHANGE IN CPI FOR FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WAS A DECREASE OF 0.27%
The monthly changes in the three main expenditure groups with the highest weight were; a decrease of 0.27% in food and non-alcoholic beverages, an increase of 2.38% in transportation, and an increase of 2.62% in housing. The effects of the relevant main groups on the monthly change were -0.07% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.36% for transportation, and 0.43% for housing.
AN INCREASE WAS OBSERVED IN THE INDEX OF 112 BASIC HEADINGS
As of June 2025, out of the 143 basic headings covered in the index (Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose - COICOP 5-digit Level), while there was a decrease in the index of 26 basic headings, there was no change in the index of 5 basic headings. An increase was observed in the index of 112 basic headings. Excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold, the change in CPI in June 2025 was an increase of 1.76% compared to the previous month, an increase of 17.27% compared to December of the previous year, an increase of 34.62% compared to the same month of the previous year, and an increase of 42.47% according to twelve-month averages.
THE SALARY INCREASE RATE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND RETIREES HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED
According to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), inflation was 16.67% for the period covering January, February, March, April, May, and June. Civil servants and civil servant retirees are entitled to a collective bargaining increase in addition to the inflation difference every six months. Civil servants received a 11.54% increase in January. According to the six-month figures, the inflation difference for civil servants and civil servant retirees was 10.09%. When the 5% contract increase for July is added, civil servants received at least a 15.6% increase. SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees receive an increase equal to inflation every six months. In January, retirees received a 15.75% increase. According to the six-month data, the increase rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees reached 16.67%.
THE RENT INCREASE RATE IS 43.23%
According to the calculation made based on inflation data, the maximum increase rate that can be applied to residential and commercial rents for July has also been determined. According to the rate calculated based on the twelve-month inflation average; property owners can increase the rent for tenants whose contract period is due in July by a maximum of 43.23%.
