The New Year market organized by the Odunpazarı Municipality in Eskişehir was attacked early in the morning by an individual named B.Ö. "THIS IS A SHARIA COUNTRY"B.Ö., who intentionally damaged the tables and chairs in the market area and the decorative materials, shouted, "This is a sharia country." Later, the individual was heard saying, "We will destroy all the idols" as he approached the bust of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and İsmet İnönü. WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCEThe attacker was taken into custody by the police teams who arrived at the scene. A subsequent check revealed that the individual had a blood alcohol level of 1.15 promille. ARRESTEDAfter his procedures at the police station, B.Ö. was referred to the courthouse, where he was interrogated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The suspect was arrested by the duty magistrate for the crimes of "publicly insulting the memory of Atatürk," "damaging public property," and "publicly inciting hatred and enmity."
