The investigation conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) regarding two questions that sparked debate among candidates in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) has concluded. While the answer to a question in the AYT Mathematics test was updated to "A", a question in the Literature test was excluded from evaluation. With the re-evaluation of score values based on valid questions after the cancellation, the standard scores and success rankings of millions of candidates will be directly affected.
Following the administration of the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) and Field Proficiency Tests (AYT) on June 20 and 21, 2026, objections were raised regarding the accuracy of some questions. ÖSYM announced that it completed its scientific evaluation process by reviewing item analyses and checking answer keys. The final decisions made by the Board of Directors were shared with the public.
ANSWER TO QUESTION NUMBER 23 IN MATH CHANGED
As a result of scientific examinations, objections concerning question number 23 in the AYT Mathematics Test Basic Question Booklet were evaluated. It was decided to change the answer previously entered as 'C' in the system to 'A' following the correction.
ONE QUESTION IN LITERATURE TEST CANCELLED
Another question reviewed by ÖSYM was in the Turkish Language and Literature-Social Sciences-1 Test. This question, numbered 20 in the Basic Question Booklet, was ordered to be fully cancelled.
RANKING WILL CHANGE
How the cancelled question will affect score calculation will be applied according to ÖSYM's relevant rule:
"The evaluation will be conducted in accordance with the provision in Article '3.10.1. How Will Exam Scores Be Calculated?' of the 2026-YKS Guide, which states: 'Questions that are decided to be cancelled by ÖSYM or judicial authorities after the exam will be excluded from evaluation, and scoring will be performed by re-determining the point value of valid questions.'"
These updates, along with recalculated point values based on valid questions, will directly affect the standard scores and success rankings of millions of candidates.
