A radical step is being taken regarding betting and gambling, which has recently been a constant topic in Turkey, especially among young people. While considering the application of the advertising ban imposed on alcohol and tobacco to betting as well, the Ministry of Family and Social Services is conducting technical work for legal regulation.
The ban on alcohol and cigarette advertising will also be applied to gambling, and legal regulations will be made in this regard.
A BAN ON GAMBLING ADVERTISEMENTS IS COMING
Gambling and betting habits have recently become particularly prevalent among young people. The button has been pressed regarding gambling, which is one of the significant problems in Turkey. Legal work is being carried out concerning gambling, which has sparked discussions in recent days and has been identified as increasing among minors.
MINISTRY HAS INITIATED TECHNICAL WORK
Legal regulations will come to the agenda regarding this issue, where the Ministries of Justice, Interior, and Family and Social Services are conducting technical work. A bill, which is planned to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) in the coming days and will also include the regulation to increase maternity leave from 16 weeks to 24 weeks, will ban "gambling" advertisements. Thus, the advertising ban on alcohol and cigarettes will also be applied to gambling.
Additionally, regulations will be made to prevent children aged 15-18 from accessing gambling.
