In Adana, retired police officer Recep Ç. shot his ex-wife Esengül Kaya in the head with a gun at the kiosk where she worked. After the incident, Recep Ç. fled, and when the gendarmerie attempted to stop him, he shot himself. Esengül Kaya died at the scene, while Recep Ç. was taken to the hospital.
Retired police officer Recep Ç. (54) shot and killed his ex-wife Esengül Kaya (48) in the head with a gun at the buffet where she worked. After the incident, Recep Ç. attempted to escape, and when he was stopped by gendarmerie teams, he shot himself with the same gun and was seriously injured.
The incident occurred around 11:00 PM on Turgut Özal Boulevard in the central Çukurova district. Retired police officer Recep Ç. went to the buffet where his ex-wife Esengül Kaya worked. A dispute broke out between the two. As the argument escalated, Recep Ç. fired his gun at his ex-wife's head.
TEAMS WERE DISPATCHED TO THE AREA
Upon receiving reports of gunshots from the surrounding people, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. During the examination by the health teams, it was determined that Esengül Kaya had lost her life. Kaya's lifeless body was taken to the morgue after the investigation at the scene.
WHEN HE REALIZED HE WOULD BE CAUGHT, HE SHOT HIMSELF
After the incident, Recep Ç. attempted to escape but was stopped by gendarmerie teams at the entrance of Mustafalar Neighborhood on the Kozan road in the Sarıçam district. Realizing he would be caught, Recep Ç. shot himself with the weapon he used in the crime. Severely injured, Recep Ç. was taken to Adana City Training and Research Hospital by the health teams that arrived at the scene. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
