In the meeting held at Dolmabahçe between President Erdoğan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the relations between the two countries were discussed. During the surprise summit, the fight against terrorism and the presence of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in Syria were also addressed.

"ISRAEL'S OCCUPATION IN SYRIA IS UNACCEPTABLE"
During President Erdoğan's meeting with Shara, the relations between the two countries as well as regional and global developments were discussed. Erdoğan stated that Israel's occupation and aggression in Syrian territories are unacceptable and that Turkey will continue to oppose this.
THE PKK'S PRESENCE IN SYRIA WAS DISCUSSED
A special focus was placed on the fight against terrorism during the meeting. The presence of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in Syria was addressed at the summit.
"WE WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP RELATIONS WITH SYRIA IN EVERY FIELD"
Erdoğan stated that the bilateral relations and cooperation between Turkey and Syria will continue to develop in every field, especially in energy, defense, and transportation, and expressed that Turkey will fulfill the requirements of neighborly and brotherly law as it has done so far.
THE US'S LIFTING OF SANCTIONS ON SYRIA
After the decision of the US and the EU to lift sanctions on Syria, Erdoğan expressed that the beginning of the lifting of sanctions was welcomed by Turkey during Shara's first visit to Turkey, and emphasized the importance of maintaining Syria's territorial integrity and managing the country and army from a single center.
Syrian President Shara also expressed his gratitude to President Erdoğan for the critical support and efforts in lifting the sanctions.
