A strong storm that was effective throughout Turkey during the day blew off roofs and destroyed balconies in many provinces. In the incidents that occurred in Karaman, Denizli, Aydın, Bursa, and Aksaray, 5 people lost their lives.
In many provinces of Turkey, roofs were blown away and balconies were destroyed due to the storm. The strong storm, which was effective throughout most of the country during the day, claimed 5 lives.
The zinc roof of a barn belonging to Süleyman Karamanoğlu, who lives in the village of Böğecik in the Ayrancı district of Karaman, was swept away by the strong wind. The roof struck the 58-year-old man who had gone outside to check on his animals. Karamanoğlu, who collapsed to the ground, was seriously injured. Health teams called to the scene determined that Süleyman Karamanoğlu had died.
MAN CHECKING ROOF IN DENIZLI LOST BALANCE AND FELL
The storm was also effective in the Pamukkale district of Denizli. Aydın Çelik went up to the roof of his house for inspection during the storm but lost his balance due to the strong wind. He fell to the ground and was seriously injured; he could not be saved at the hospital. It was learned that Aydın Çelik's brother was martyred in an attack carried out by the PKK terrorist organization in Bingöl in 1993.
WORKERS ON SCAFFOLDING IN AYDIN FELL INTO THE SEA
Work was being done at a hotel in the Kuşadası district of Aydın. However, strong winds were affecting the area. The waves created during the storm caused three workers on the scaffolding to fall into the sea. Rescue teams reached the lifeless body of 30-year-old İsmail Dağ. The treatment of the other two workers, who were taken to the hospital, is ongoing. One of the workers is in serious condition.
A YOUNG MAN IN BURSA WAS TRAPPED UNDER A WALL
In Bursa, the wind speed exceeded 80 kilometers per hour. A wall collapsed in the Kestel district. At that moment, a 22-year-old foreign national was in front of the wall. The young man, who was trapped under the rubble, could not be saved.
ROOF PARTS FELL ON A WOMAN IN THE GARDEN IN AKSARAY
Strong winds blew roofs away in the Güzelyurt district of Aksaray as well. 60-year-old Meral Tezer, who runs a restaurant, was in the garden at that time. Parts of the restaurant's torn roof hit the woman. Heavily injured, Tezel died at the hospital where she was taken.
