Fatih Erbakan, in a statement regarding his discussions with President Erdoğan at the parliamentary reception, said that the photo is not a sign of a new alliance. He noted that they only conveyed their congratulations to the President and shook his hand, stating, "We conveyed our best wishes to the President and shook his hand. We were not present there; we left the hall afterward."
Leader of the New Welfare Party, Fatih Erbakan, regarding his meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the opening reception of the new legislative year of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, stated, "We conveyed our best wishes to the President, shook his hand. We were not there, we left the hall later. I don't think this photo indicates any alliance or a new formation."
"WE LEFT THE HALL, OTHERS STAYED"
Fatih Erbakan, before the Monthly Ordinary Provincial Chairmen Meeting held at the party's headquarters, made statements. He said that with President Erdoğan meeting opposition leaders at the reception in the Grand National Assembly, "A completely spontaneous situation occurred there, so to speak. We were there too. We conveyed our best wishes to the President, shook his hand. We were not there, we left the hall later. However, other party leaders preferred to stay there. The President is there in his capacity as President. The opening ceremony of the new legislative year is under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Therefore, I think it should not be interpreted as if 'Mr. Tayyip Erdoğan is there as the Chairman of the AK Party and they have come together and met there.'
IS IT A SIGN OF AN ALLIANCE?
Continuing his words, Erbakan stated, "I don't think this photo indicates any alliance or a new formation." He added, "Regarding the referendum, we are always in favor of going to the people, asking them. Rather than the Parliament making a decision, I think it would be more democratic and appropriate for the people to approve this constitutional change, this decision."
HARSH STATEMENT FROM BABACAN
Ali Babacan, the leader of the DEVA Party, who was a guest on Haberler.com live broadcast, commented on the photo by saying, "Those who attack us by looking at that photo say 'There is no salvation alone,' the main opposition becomes even more isolated. If they say, 'The Republican People's Party should be a completely lonely party, let there be no one on its right or left with whom it has previously cooperated. We are enough for ourselves,' that is their own business. We have always complained about the media that blindly approves and supports the government and the government trolls. The main opposition media and trolls have no difference from the government trolls anymore."
DAVUTOĞLU ALSO MADE A STATEMENT
Ahmet Davutoğlu, the leader of the Future Party, in his statement regarding the issue said, "There should be a culture of at least coming together among nations and politicians. It's not about 'Why did he sit there, why did he sit here.' It's something that occurs naturally. So why hasn't it happened until now? That question should be asked to the President, not to me. The President did the right thing this year. I understand Mr. Özgür Özel's reaction, but he should have participated."
