Following the establishment of the 'National Solidarity Brotherhood and Democracy Commission' within the framework of the resolution process in the Parliament, PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who met with the DEM Party delegation for the second time, referred to his statement on February 27, in which he made the first call for the dissolution of the organization, saying, "We stand behind our statement that the development of the process is dependent on political and legal necessities."
While continuing the commission's work within the framework of the solution process, the DEM Party, which frequently brings up the demands for Öcalan to be listened to, went to Imralı for the second time yesterday. The meeting of the delegation consisting of TBMM Deputy Speaker Pervin Buldan, DEM Party Şanlıurfa Deputy Mithat Sancar, and lawyer Faik Özgür Erol lasted for 3.5 hours.
EMPHASIS ON NEGOTIATED DEMOCRACY
In a statement made today after the meeting, Öcalan's words were included. In his statement emphasizing 'negotiated democracy', Öcalan said, "The methods and mechanisms that constitute its essence should be taken as a basis for solving many of the problems Turkey faces both domestically and internationally."
Öcalan also stated that everyone who played a role in the solution process, which has been ongoing for a year, is the owner of 'a great and honorable effort.'
The statement from the DEM Party is as follows:
"On October 3, 2025, we had a meeting lasting nearly three and a half hours with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan at Imralı Prison. Mr. Öcalan was, as always, extremely cheerful, healthy, and confident.
He stated that with the Peace and Democratic Society Process that began a year ago, a state of non-conflict has prevailed in our country and that great dangers have been averted, emphasizing that everyone who played a role in this is the owner of a great and honorable effort.
Mr. Öcalan said, 'One of the important solution models developed by civilization after three centuries of destructive conflicts and the terrible losses of world wars is negotiated democracy. The methods and mechanisms that constitute its essence should be taken as a basis for solving many of the problems Turkey faces both domestically and internationally,' suggesting that democratic negotiation should dominate all political and social relations.
Stating, 'We stand behind our sentence that the development of the process is dependent on political and legal necessities,' Mr. Öcalan emphasized that it is extremely important to identify and implement legal necessities with a correct and holistic perspective at this stage.
Finally, Mr. Öcalan expressed that the new century of the Republic should be built on the law of peace and democracy."
