The Bitlis Eren University Faculty of Medicine, which is accepting students for the first time this year and does not yet even have its own building, broke a record in the YKS preferences with a success ranking of 9,552. Thanks to the fact that education will be provided at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa) for the first 3 years and the state scholarship opportunity of up to 50,000 TL per month, the faculty left behind established giants such as Gaziantep, Fırat, and Atatürk universities.
Bitlis Eren University Faculty of Medicine, which accepted its first students this year but does not yet even have its own building, achieved a historic success in the YKS preference results. The faculty, competed for by high-ranking students within the top 10,000, left behind established medical faculties such as Gaziantep, Atatürk, and Fırat University. Behind this preference surge lie the scholarship opportunities of up to 50,000 TL per month offered to students and the fact that the first 3 years of education will be provided at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa).
Bitlis Eren University Faculty of Medicine, which admitted students for the first time this year, left its mark on the 2026 YKS preference results. Despite its physical building and academic infrastructure work not yet being completed, the faculty managed to overtake the long-serving established universities of the East and Southeast by accepting students with a base score of 515,764 and a success ranking of 9,552.
EDUCATION AT ISTANBUL ÇAPA, FOURTH YEAR IN BITLIS
According to the news from Nefes Newspaper, the strategic statement shared by the university administration before the preference period was decisive in the decision of medical student candidates. In the statement, it was announced that until the academic staff and physical infrastructure are completed, students will receive their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year education at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa), one of Turkey's most established medical institutions. Students will only return to Bitlis from the 4th year onwards to continue their education there.
MONTHLY 50,000 TL SCHOLARSHIP FOR TOP 15,000 RANKINGS MADE THE DIFFERENCE
In addition to the opportunity for education at Istanbul Çapa, the high financial support offered also concentrated preferences on this faculty. According to the scholarship schedule announced by the university:
- Students placed with a success ranking within the top 15,000 will be paid a monthly scholarship of 50,000 TL,
- Students placed with a success ranking above 15,000 will be paid a monthly scholarship of 30,000 TL.
THE LAST ADMITTED CANDIDATE RANKED 9,632ND
Following the announcement of these attractive opportunities, the entire quota of 30 was filled during the first preferences. The faculty, which ranked among the top steps among medical programs in state universities in terms of success ranking, recorded the last admitted candidate's rank as 9,632. Thus, the fledgling medical faculty achieved a great surprise in its first year by accepting students from within the 10,000 ranking threshold.
