Following the completion of the first leg matches of the UEFA Europa League play-off round, the UEFA country coefficient rankings were updated. Besiktas, with their 3-0 victory against Kauno Zalgiris, added 0.200 points to Turkey's tally, while Trabzonspor, who lost 1-0 to Ferencvaros, finished the week without any points. Turkey maintained its 9th place with 48.275 points.

Beşiktaş defeated Lithuanian representative Kauno Zalgiris 3-0 at home in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round. The black-and-whites gained a significant advantage before the rematch, while also contributing 0.200 points to Türkiye's UEFA country coefficient.

TRABZONSPOR ENDED THE WEEK WITHOUT POINTS

Trabzonspor hosted Hungarian representative Ferencvaros at Papara Park. The claret-blue team lost the match 1-0, and with this result, they could not contribute to Türkiye's country coefficient. Trabzonspor left their hopes of advancing to the rematch to be played in Hungary.

TÜRKİYE MAINTAINED ITS 9TH PLACE

Following the first leg matches of the Europa League play-off round, Türkiye's UEFA country coefficient reached 48.275. Thus, Türkiye maintained its position on the 9th step in the rankings, while its closest follower Poland ranks 10th with 44.825 points. Czechia ranks 11th with 44.325 points, and Greece ranks 12th with 42.012 points.

DIFFERENCE WITH POLAND IS 3.450 POINTS

There is a 3.450-point difference between Türkiye and Poland, which is in 10th place. The difference between Czechia and Türkiye is 3.950 points. The play-off rematches in European cups and whether the representatives will qualify for the league stages are of great importance in the country coefficient race.

6TH PLACE IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

If Türkiye rises to the 6th step in the UEFA country coefficient rankings this season, a significant advantage will be gained in terms of participation in European cups in the 2027-2028 season.

In such a scenario, the number of teams Türkiye will send to the Champions League will increase to 3, and the total number of teams to be sent to European cups will increase to 6. While two teams will directly participate in the league stage of the Champions League, one team will enter the organization from the 3rd qualifying round.
