In the Manavgat district of Antalya, the driver of a motorcycle that rear-ended a car stopped in the emergency lane died at the scene, and a woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle was seriously injured. After the accident, the car driver, who was lying by the roadside, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.67 promille, and the driver was fined for drunk driving and inadequate license.
The accident in the emergency lane in Manavgat ended in death. The motorcyclist who rear-ended the vehicle of the drunk and unlicensed driver died at the scene.
CRASHED INTO A CAR STOPPED IN THE EMERGENCY LANE
The accident occurred last night at the Antalya-Manavgat D-400 Highway Hatipler Yenimahalle location. According to information obtained, the motorcycle with license plate 07 LLY 51, driven by Murat Güneri, traveling from Antalya direction to Manavgat direction, rear-ended the car with license plate 06 FG 8711, driven by Ş. T., which was stopped in the emergency lane.
MOTORCYCLE DRIVER DIED AT THE SCENE
In the horrific accident, recorded second by second by a security camera, motorcycle driver Murat Güneri (35) lost his life at the scene. Dilek G., who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was seriously injured. Upon notification, health, gendarmerie, and traffic teams were dispatched to the scene. After initial intervention by health teams at the scene, the seriously injured Dilek G. was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The body of Murat Güneri, who died in the accident, was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after examinations by the Gendarmerie Crime Scene Investigation teams, the public prosecutor, and the forensic physician.
DRUNK DRIVER FOUND LYING ON CONCRETE
The driver of the car involved in the accident, Ş. T., was found lying on concrete near the scene due to the effects of the accident and alcohol. During checks by traffic teams, Ş. T. was determined to have a blood alcohol level of 0.67 promil.
The car driver was fined 11,629 TL for having an insufficient license for the vehicle being used and 25,000 TL for drunk driving. The license plate owner, who was found to have allowed the vehicle to be used, was also fined 11,629 TL. The driver, whose driving license was confiscated for 6 months, told gendarmerie and traffic teams, when asked why the vehicle was stopped in the emergency lane, that he had stopped because he felt unwell due to drinking alcohol.
The driver, who lay on the ground for a long time and stated he did not feel well, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after 112 health teams were called to the scene.
