Due to the effective rainfall in Istanbul, some streets in certain areas were left under water. While some vehicles had difficulty moving in side streets, citizens rescued a woman who was about to be swept away by the waters in Beşiktaş.
Following warnings issued by the Disaster Affairs Department (AKOM), temperatures in Istanbul have dropped to around 27 degrees Celsius, while heavy rain has affected many districts. According to meteorological data, the rain is expected to continue intermittently and strongly in different areas across Istanbul until the evening hours.
STREETS TURNED INTO LAKES, MARKET VENDORS FACED TOUGH TIMES
In Kağıthane's Yahya Kemal neighborhood, a sewage pipe burst on the street, leaving the road flooded. In Sultangazi and Esenler, vehicles struggled to move on some streets. In Kağıthane, the street market turned into a lake, causing difficult moments for vendors.
ZİNCİRLİKUYU UNDERPASS FLOODED
Due to the rain, the underpass in front of the cemetery on the road to Nispetiye Street in Zincirlikuyu was flooded. Vehicles were stranded on the road. Teams are carrying out water drainage operations.
TREE FELL ON VEHICLES IN ŞİŞLİ
In Şişli's Dolapdere area, two trees fell onto parked vehicles due to the heavy rain. Fire department and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. No injuries were reported, but two vehicles were damaged.
ÇIRAĞAN STREET TURNED INTO A LAKE
Due to the heavy rain, Çırağan Street became almost like a lake, and drivers had difficulty moving forward with their vehicles. Traffic in the area slowed down at times, and vehicle queues formed at some points.
LIFE-THREATENING MOMENTS IN BEŞİKTAŞ
The rain also negatively affected life in Beşiktaş. A woman trying to cross the road on Ihlamurdere Street was about to be swept away by floodwaters but was saved at the last moment thanks to the attention of nearby citizens.
The woman, who experienced difficult moments due to the intense water flow on the street caused by the heavy rain in Beşiktaş, was taken to a safe area with the intervention of nearby citizens. Those moments were recorded on a mobile phone camera by people in the vicinity.
Due to the heavy rain, vendors and citizens also had a tough time at the market set up in the area. Vendors trying to protect their stalls and shoppers were negatively affected by the rain.
Meanwhile, it was observed that houses and workplaces on the ground floor along the street were flooded due to the heavy rain.
