In the scope of the Aziz İhsan Aktaş case, a court decision was issued for the release of Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, who was arrested in May 2025 and has been in prison for 14 months. Çaykara was released from the Marmara Penal Institution Campus in Silivri around 9:30 PM, and was greeted at the prison gate by an enthusiastic crowd of his family, party members, and municipal employees. Çaykara had an emotional moment upon seeing the crowd.

Çaykara, who had been behind bars for approximately 14 months, was released around 21:30 from the Marmara Penal Execution Institutions Campus in Silivri.

At the prison exit, Utku Caner Çaykara was greeted by his family, party members, municipal employees, supporters, and many citizens.
In the footage that emerged of the release moment, it was seen that the crowd filling the area in front of the prison experienced great joy with applause and chants, while his relatives had emotional moments, unable to hold back their tears.
HE LEARNED OF THE RELEASE DECISION FROM TELEVISION
Making a brief speech to the enthusiastic crowd waiting for him, Utku Caner Çaykara touched on the prison process and those he left behind:
"It has been 14 months since we were away from our family, our loved ones, and Avcılar. We also learned of the release decision from television. We left our mayors and deputies behind. I hope they are reunited with their families as soon as possible. The trial process continues. I sincerely thank everyone who has stood by us during this process. Let us first go to our families, then we will make statements."
HIS TRIAL WILL CONTINUE WITHOUT DETENTION
After approximately 14 months of detention, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, who has regained his freedom and his family, will continue to be tried without detention within the scope of the case file.
