Sports commentator Ahmet Cakar, against whom Galatasaray filed a criminal complaint, came to the courthouse to give a statement as part of the ongoing investigation. In his statement after giving testimony, Cakar rejected the accusations directed at him while sharply criticizing the Galatasaray administration, saying, 'I am not the one who should be ashamed.'
Within the scope of the criminal complaint filed by Galatasaray Sports Club against 8 people, including sports commentator Ahmet Çakar, Çakar came to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to give a statement. After the statement process, Çakar made statements, stating that he did not accept the accusations against him and used harsh words against Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek and the club management.
GALATASARAY FILED A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST 8 PEOPLE
In its statement made in the previous period, Galatasaray Sports Club had filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 8 people, including Ahmet Çakar, Hulusi Belgü, and Ahmet Ercanlar, on the grounds that they made statements and shares considered to 'contain hate speech and be of a nature that could disrupt public order' targeting the club, its managers, athletes, and fans.
Among the names mentioned in the criminal complaint, in addition to Ahmet Çakar, Hulusi Belgü and Ahmet Ercanlar were also included.
'SO I ALLEGEDLY GAVE MISLEADING INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC'
Within the scope of the ongoing investigation, Ahmet Çakar, who came to the Istanbul Courthouse today, gave a statement at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
After the statement process, Çakar, who made statements in front of the courthouse, said that Galatasaray Sports Club filed a complaint against him on the grounds of 'giving misleading information to the public'.
Çakar said, 'We came to the press prosecutor's office to give a statement regarding the complaint made by Galatasaray Sports Club about me. So I allegedly gave misleading information to the public. On what subject?'
BROUGHT UP SPONSORSHIP ALLEGATIONS
Çakar also touched upon the sponsorship allegations between Galatasaray and some companies, arguing that some allegations do not reflect the truth.
Çakar used the expressions, 'For example, an extension of an illegal betting company called Merrit King has not sponsored Galatasaray. Maydonoz Döner never happened. Başkent İnşaat has not been a sponsor, and its chairman is currently in prison within the scope of organized crimes, I don't know. Also, the phrase 'don't you dare' never passed between the federation president and Dursun Özbek.'
'I AM NOT SLINGING MUD, ALL THESE ARE INVESTIGATIONS'
Stating that he did not accept the accusations made due to these allegations, Çakar made harsh statements towards the Galatasaray management.
Çakar spoke, 'By God, I will give my statement. Did that person named Dursun Özbek and those around him ever feel remorse? Were they never ashamed?'
Çakar, who also made evaluations regarding the events Galatasaray experienced in the last two years, said, 'The events one of Turkey's biggest clubs has experienced in the last two years: Black market tickets, Merrit King illegal betting, Maydonoz Döner, Başkent İnşaat. I am not slinging mud. All of these are investigations that are seen when one goes to the judicial authorities.'
'I AM NOT THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE ASHAMED'
Arguing that the federation is a constitutional institution, Çakar continued his criticisms towards the Galatasaray management.
Çakar used the expressions, 'The club president says, 'Don't you dare reveal our conversations between us.' These do not happen in tribal states. These are only gossip that ladies do in the neighborhood.'
In the continuation of his statement, Çakar said, 'I am not the one who should be ashamed. I came and gave my statement like a lion. It is Dursun Özbek and his cronies who should be ashamed. Shame on them for putting Galatasaray in a very bad and troubled situation.'
Ahmet Çakar left the courthouse after his statements.
