"Being a member of the PKK" claim against CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was arrested and replaced by a trustee, was rejected by the court regarding his lawyers' appeal against his detention. The duty criminal court completed its examination of the appeal petition submitted by Özer's lawyers in the morning hours. The court rejected Özer's request for release. WHAT HAPPENED?In the 40-page petition submitted to the court by Özer's lawyers, it was stated that in 2014, during a visit to İmralı by a HDP delegation, it was claimed that Özer's name might have been used without his knowledge and consent regarding the allegations that he wanted to contribute to the so-called democratic autonomy project conveyed to the terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan. It was stated in the petition that Özer's meeting with a person named M.K. was of a condolence nature, and that the term "you" used in addressing M.K. was used out of politeness. It was argued that Özer knew Remzi Kartal, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization, because they belonged to the same tribe, but the claim of a meeting between the two needed confirmation.
