AK Party's Alkayış: Early elections are not on the citizens' agenda.

02.10.2024 17:03

AK Party Adıyaman Deputy Mustafa Alkayış spoke to Haberler.com before the opening ceremony of the new legislative year of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Addressing the discussions on early elections, Alkayış emphasized that Turkey does not have such an agenda at the moment.

AK Party Adıyaman Member of Parliament Mustafa Alkayış answered questions from Haberler.com. He noted that legal regulations are among the priorities for the new legislative period, along with the economy. He stated that they do not have an agenda for early elections.

"The cost of the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, the crisis in the markets, and the earthquake we experienced has so far amounted to 104 billion dollars for our Turkey. Savings measures are being implemented, but these savings are not being applied in the earthquake zone. There is a cost to all of this. There is economic pressure. We will all see at first that our basket is full and the opportunities in our kitchen have increased. All measures are based on this. However, this is not an easy task. It requires serious struggle. It is a multi-functional environment with many effects and components, there are issues arising from the international market, and there is the part related to the rising costs in the energy sector. Additionally, there are opportunists within the country who exploit the economic crisis we need to fight against, independent of it. We have embarked on a path regarding all of these. As we increase employment, strengthen the economy, and see our way forward, we will experience this together. We are slowly starting to see this."

"THERE IS NO AGENDA FOR EARLY ELECTIONS IN THE CITIZEN'S MIND"

"In the citizen's agenda, there is a desire for economic relief and a solution to Turkey's fundamental issues. Turkey can no longer bear an election atmosphere. The Presidential Government System was introduced to eliminate early elections. Opposition parties are speaking according to the old system. There is no agenda for early elections in the citizen's mind or in the political agenda."
