AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik made noteworthy statements regarding how the process will develop following the visits of the DEM Party delegation to İmralı. Çelik stated that the visit traffic has been completed and that the expectation moving forward is for a call to emerge regarding the dismantling of the terrorist organization.
After the call of MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the process aimed at completely eliminating terrorism began, and the DEM Party İmralı Delegation recently visited the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan for the second time. While the lack of a comprehensive statement after the visit led to discussions, critical statements also came from the AK Party.
"VISIT TRAFFIC HAS BEEN CLOSED, NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE CALL"
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in a statement made during the party's Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) meeting, used expressions regarding how the continuation of the process will develop.
Çelik stated, "The visit traffic has been completed. From now on, the expected call regarding the elimination of the terrorist organization will emerge. We expressed our views during the visit traffic," and added, "The delegation that visited expressed how they viewed the issue openly. We also presented our stance regarding the works in the past period and how we view this period. The point reached includes the call for the terrorist organization to eliminate itself and lay down its arms."
"THE INCREASE HAS BECOME AN UNBEARABLE BURDEN"
Continuing his statements, Çelik said, "This is not a bargaining process in any way. It is not a process where the fundamental characteristics of the state will be compromised. Occasionally, some politicians make such statements. These are wrong approaches," and he used the following expressions: "Our President and Mr. Devlet Bahçeli also stated the goal of a Turkey without terrorism. When we look at the developments in the Middle East, there are many terrorist organizations, especially those saying 'I defend the rights of the Kurds,' such as PKK, PYD, YPG. They are acting as prison guards for ISIS in Syria. What does being a prison guard have to do with serving the Kurds? When we look at the reality, the terrorist organization is acting as a guard for ISIS on behalf of some Western countries.
If we closely examine the statements of our President and Mr. Bahçeli, we can see that they are trying to remove these from the entire malignant equation, as they are acting on behalf of imperialism. These terrorist organizations have always been illegitimate and targets in our view. However, for those who try to find excuses for them in various ways, they have now become an entirely unbearable burden."
