Individuals or groups who take cash payments of 1500-2000 lira without providing a receipt or invoice only communicate through social media. The President of the Antalya Medical Chamber, Hüseyin Can Ertürk, stated that the application of the yellow serum outside of hospitals could lead to various reactions that could result in death, emphasizing that this practice needs to be urgently monitored and banned.

Some citizens whose body resistance decreases in winter prefer the yellow serum due to its B vitamin content. Experts state that the yellow serum, which can lead to death in individuals with allergic bodies, should only be administered in health centers, warning that the method citizens are resorting to will lead to significant health problems. While yellow serum treatment is administered with a doctor's approval in health centers, some individuals go to homes under the guise of 'home health service' and apply the yellow serum without conducting any tests.

SOCIAL MEDIA 'YELLOW SERUM' ADS

In Antalya, it has been observed that accounts have been created on social media for this method, especially targeting foreign tourists. The advertisement on social media draws attention with the phrase 'With you 24/7 at home or work,' and it is also stated that it will be beneficial for complaints such as fever, cough, weakness, sore throat, joint pain, general body aches, nausea and vomiting, chills, and shivering. It is noteworthy that 10,000 people follow the account on social media, and another advertisement stated that home expert doctor examinations and nurse support, as well as laboratory support, would be provided.

NO PHONE NUMBER IS SHARED

In addition to the account where photos of some citizens who received the yellow serum at their homes or workplaces were shared, it was noted that many similar accounts also posted advertisements. Communication with the advertised accounts can only be established through messaging. No phone number is shared. A home or workplace address is requested. Payment is taken in cash without providing a receipt or invoice. The fee for applying the yellow serum at home or workplace varies between 1500-2000 lira depending on the location of the address. If painkillers are requested along with the yellow serum, an additional payment of 200 lira is collected. The administrator of one of the contacted accounts stated that they currently have no yellow serum in stock and will provide information after consulting with the nurse and ambulance team, noting that the fee is also 1500 lira. These transactions, which do not provide a receipt or invoice, endanger the health of citizens and are illegal as they are not subject to taxation.

'EVEN IF DONE BY HOME HEALTH PERSONNEL, IT IS HARMFUL'

Hüseyin Can Ertürk, the President of the Antalya Medical Chamber, stated that they have seen an increase in such accounts, especially during the winter months. Dr. Ertürk emphasized that such procedures should never be performed outside of a hospital, stating, "Even if done by home health personnel, it is harmful. Any substance entering the human body from outside can cause an allergy. If an allergy develops and there is no hospital environment, you cannot perform any procedure. For example, if breathing stops or the heart stops. If you are in a hospital, you can be saved with intervention, but if you do it at home, you will lose the patient. You can perform it on a million people, but if one person has an allergy, that person may lose their life. These procedures are done to make money," he said.

'B VITAMIN CAN CAUSE ALLERGIES'

President Ertürk stated that the yellow serum is yellow due to its B vitamin content. He noted that allergic reactions can also occur with B vitamins, saying, "Allergic effects can occur with B vitamins. Breathing can stop. Even if it is one in a thousand, we cannot ignore the danger. Especially, this yellow serum issue needs to be eliminated." Ertürk stated that provincial health directorates have the authority to identify such accounts and impose necessary sanctions. He mentioned that they report complaints received to the relevant units, emphasizing that the issue has reached a public health dimension.

COST OF 1500 LIRA IS 150 LIRA

On the other hand, the three medications and serum liquid to be used for the yellow serum can be purchased from all pharmacies without a prescription for 400-500 lira. These medications are sold in packs of five. Since they can be applied to five different patients, the cost per person drops to 150 lira. Of the 1500 lira taken in cash without tax, 150 lira goes to the cost. Pharmacist Mustafa Oruç stated that the procedure carries a complete risk of death, noting that the absence of any deceased citizen so far does not mean there is no risk of death. Oruç mentioned that the contents of the yellow serum medication are sold in pharmacies and that there are buyers, stating, "It is sold without a prescription or with a prescription. If prescribed, the doctor covers the SGK payment. It is a group of medications in the 400-500 lira range. Performing the yellow serum at home or work by opening a vein without the supervision of a doctor is a great risk. It can lead to death. In this regard, both the public needs to be educated, and it is necessary to thoroughly investigate who is performing these procedures," he said.
