Ali Babacan, Chairman of the DEVA Party, evaluating the latest developments in the CHP, emphasized that the judiciary should not be used as a tool to design politics. Stating that Turkey's urgent need is "clean politics," Babacan said that political parties should establish internal control mechanisms to impose harsh sanctions on members with faults and should not leave the examination of allegations to the judiciary.
DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan emphasized "clean politics" while evaluating the developments in the CHP over the past two weeks. Stating that political parties should establish internal oversight mechanisms, Babacan underlined that the judiciary should not be used as a tool for political design.
"THE JUDICIARY CANNOT BE MADE A TOOL FOR DESIGNING POLITICS"
DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan, speaking at the New Path Group meeting, stated that they are closely following the recent developments in the main opposition party and expressed that their stance is very clear. Babacan, noting that Turkey's real needs are legal security, democratic competition, and respect for the will of the ballot box, said, "If there is no predictability in law; democracy, the economy, and the country all suffer."
"THOSE IN THE WRONG SHOULD FACE SEVERE PENALTIES"
Drawing attention to the distrust of judicial processes, Babacan argued that political parties should determine ethical principles in their internal functioning and said: "Since the judiciary is currently under pressure, since it is being used as a tool, and since we do not trust judicial processes; then political parties should thoroughly investigate allegations concerning their own members and activate their own sanction mechanisms. If there is someone in the wrong, they should face severe penalties. Parties can establish teams if they wish and carry out oversight. In that case, parties should set up internal systems and not leave matters to the judiciary."
"WE ARE AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE ENTIRE EXISTING ORDER"
Babacan stated that this situation in politics alienates young people from politics and leads citizens to lose hope in democracy, expressing his deep sorrow over the process. Emphasizing that those who cannot produce solutions try to gain ground through hostility and tension, Babacan concluded his remarks by saying, "This bipolar structure now serves no purpose other than to obscure the real problems of the nation like a fog. In the end, it is again the millions struggling to make ends meet amid economic hardship who suffer. We cannot remain silent to this order, this vicious cycle. We stand before the nation as an alternative to the entire existing order."
