DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan reacted strongly to the military operation against Iran initiated by Israel and joined by the United States. Stating that the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter are clearly violated, Babacan emphasized that Turkey must be prepared for regional risks.
"CLEAR VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW"
In a statement made on his social media account, Babacan expressed that Israel's attempt to legitimize its operation against Iran under the pretext of "preventive war" has no basis in international law.
Babacan, who said, "This aggression resorted to while negotiation processes are ongoing poses a great danger to regional stability," pointed out that military intervention eliminates the diplomatic ground.
"FOREIGN INTERVENTION DEEPENS CHAOS"
Babacan noted that past experiences have shown that democracy cannot be built through foreign interventions, stating that such attempts only exacerbate chaos and humanitarian tragedies.
Reminding that the countries in the region have paid heavy prices, Babacan warned that military operations could create new conflict zones.
WARNING OF MIGRATION RISK FOR TURKEY
Babacan expressed that targeting Iran's centers of governance and infrastructure poses direct economic risks for Turkey, also drawing attention to potential new waves of migration.
Babacan indicated that threatening the energy lines passing through the Strait of Hormuz could shake the world economy, pointing to the risk of fluctuations in global energy markets.
"TURKEY MUST BE ACTIVE AND PREPARED"
In his statement, Babacan used the expressions, "I condemn these attacks initiated against Iran," and said that Turkey should take an active role in revitalizing diplomatic channels.
Babacan, who stated, "Our place is on the side of the diplomacy table, common sense, and international law against calculations that will set the region on fire and cause the deaths of more innocent people," called for Ankara to be prepared for possible crisis scenarios.
