Amedspor's 'Braid' Reaction

'FOOTBALL IS BEAUTIFUL ON THE FIELD, NOT AT THE TABLE'

President Kılavuz, stating that they will defend Amedspor's rights in every arena, said, 'On January 23, our Amedspor club was punished with perhaps one of the largest fines in the history of the Turkish Football Federation, citing a video published on our official page. We no longer want to appear in front of cameras in this way. We can truly express that this is a significant lapse in judgment. We want to state that we will defend Amedspor's rights and law in every platform, both nationally and internationally, without breaking away from the legal ground. Please let football matches be played on the field. Institutions that will ensure equality in competition in football should be more sensitive in this regard. We have never played against 11 people in any of our matches. We now want to play against 11 people. Football is beautiful on the field, not at the table.'

Amedspor's 'Braid' Reaction

'THIS DECISION VIOLATES THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF LAW'

Amed Sportif Faaliyetler Advisory Board Member Sorgül Aytek stated in her announcement, 'On January 23, 2026, Amedspor shared a video on its social media accounts showing a young woman's hair being braided inside the stadium, aimed at increasing the visibility of women in sports and raising social awareness against the violence women are subjected to. The mentioned video was prepared for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25. It was published on the official page of the Amedspor Women's Football Team on the occasion of the Super League match played between Amedspor and Trabzonspor women's football teams on November 22, 2025. Naturally, no legal or administrative action has been taken regarding this video protesting violence against women. However, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) referred Amedspor to the Professional Football Discipline Board (PFDK) on January 27, 2026, due to this video, which had been published earlier and did not cause any legal issues. The PFDK imposed a fine of 802,500 TL on Amedspor and a 15-day ban on Club President Nahit Eren, citing 'statements and ideological propaganda aimed at damaging the reputation of football and its institutions.'

Amedspor's 'Braid' Reaction

The penalties imposed on the Amedspor club and its president lack a legal basis. The PFDK's decision contradicts the law, the Constitution, and the European Convention on Human Rights, primarily the TFF Regulations and Statutes. This decision, which violates the fundamental value of democratic societies, 'freedom of expression,' does not rely on any concrete justification or accusation; it contradicts fundamental legal principles such as certainty, predictability, and definiteness. We stand against all forms of discrimination and lawlessness against Amedspor and closely follow the legal processes initiated to ensure justice. We act in solidarity with Amedspor, which is progressing towards its goals with firm steps, and we are launching a major fundraising campaign led by civil society organizations to cover this latest fine imposed on the club. In this context, we invite the TFF and PFDK, especially regarding this latest decision, to reassess their decisions against Amedspor in accordance with fairness and to act in accordance with the universal principles of sports and the conscience of society.'
