In the Mediterranean district of Mersin, a jeep hit pedestrians trying to cross the road at a crosswalk, resulting in the death of 3 people and injuries to 3 others. After the accident, the driver was taken into custody.
Three pedestrians were killed and three were injured when an SUV hit them in the central Mediterranean district of Mersin.
SUV HIT THE PEDESTRIANS
The SUV with license plate 33 ATE 039, whose driver's name has not yet been learned, hit pedestrians trying to cross at the pedestrian crossing at the Bekirde junction on the D-400 highway. Upon notification, 112 Emergency Health, police, and fire teams were dispatched to the area. Mersin Governor Atilla Toros and Provincial Police Chief İdris Yılmaz received information from the teams at the accident site.
3 DEAD, 3 INJURED
Toros stated in a statement to reporters that the accident occurred around 20:45. He mentioned that the teams intervened with the injured, saying: "We faced an accident that occurred when a vehicle trying to overtake a truck coming from Tarsus direction towards Mersin hit our citizens. Two of our citizens died at the scene, and one citizen passed away in the hospital. I wish God's mercy upon the deceased citizens. Three of our citizens are also under treatment in our hospitals. I wish them a speedy recovery."
The police teams detained the SUV driver.
