ITALIAN AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM IN KONYA
The Ministry of National Defense announced that, to strengthen NATO alliance defense, one SAMP-T Air Defense System belonging to Italy will be deployed at the Konya 3rd Main Jet Base Command. The ministry's statement indicated that this decision was made with the aim of increasing solidarity among allied countries and enhancing joint security measures in the region.
SAMP-T AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM
SAMP/T (Sol-Air Moyenne Portée/Terrestre) is a new generation medium and long-range air and missile defense system jointly developed by Italy and France. Using advanced Aster 15 and Aster 30 missiles, this system provides 360-degree full protection against aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and especially tactical ballistic missiles.
Forming the backbone of the Italian army's air defense, SAMP/T is mounted on highly mobile wheeled platforms and can be deployed and made operational in a very short time. Thanks to its multifunctional radar system (Arabel or the new generation Kronos), which can simultaneously track and destroy multiple targets, it achieves high accuracy even in intense electronic warfare environments, successfully fulfilling the task of protecting both military units and critical infrastructure.
