In the U.S. midterm elections, the Democrats' winning a majority in both chambers of Congress turned into a political defeat for President Donald Trump. In the hours when the election results were announced, the words "TRUMP OUT" (Trump get out) were seen projected onto the exterior facade of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas.
The midterm elections held in the US on November 3 produced results that shifted the political balance during President Donald Trump's second term. While the Democratic Party gained majorities in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and Senate, a protest message reportedly projected onto the Trump International Hotel building in Las Vegas on election night also stood out.
"TRUMP OUT" MESSAGE AT TRUMP'S HOTEL
The high-rise hotel building in Las Vegas bearing Trump's name became the target of a protest message on election night. In shared images, the English phrase "TRUMP OUT" was seen projected onto the exterior facade of the hotel.
DEMOCRATS WIN BOTH CHAMBERS OF CONGRESS
According to Associated Press and NPR reports dated November 4, Democrats succeeded in winning majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the midterm elections. Thus, Republican control over Congress ended, creating a new picture that will change the political balance during the next two years of the Trump administration.
The results Democrats achieved, especially in some states where Republicans are strong, drew attention. Voters' concerns about the cost of living, the economy, and government policies were also among the prominent topics in election assessments.
A NEW POLITICAL ERA AHEAD FOR TRUMP
Democrats gaining majorities in both chambers of Congress is seen as a development that could make it harder for the Trump administration to pass bills. In the new congressional term, Democrats will have broader powers to oversee the administration's policies and initiate investigation processes.
After the election results, the protest message delivered via Trump's hotel in Las Vegas was also among the striking images of election night.
