After the statements of the phenomenon Ece Ronay, "Is it okay if I give my zakat to the Turkish Armed Forces? I don't know, we might buy a bomb or something," an investigation was launched for the crime of "insulting the military organization of the state."
After the expressions used in a video shared on her social media account by social media phenomenon Ece Ronay, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action. An investigation has been initiated against the phenomenon.
ALLEGATION OF "DEGRADING THE MILITARY ORGANIZATION OF THE STATE"
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "An investigation has been initiated ex officio by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of 'degrading the military organization of the state' under Article 301/2 of the Turkish Penal Code due to the posts made by the individual named Ece Ronay through her social media account targeting the Turkish Armed Forces."

The phenomenon Ece Ronay, in her social media post, stated, "If I give my zakat to the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, would it be valid? I don't know, we could buy bombs or something. Is zakat still zakat?"
