UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he has accepted the request from the US to use British military bases for defensive strikes against Iran. The Prime Minister stated that this decision is part of defensive operations targeting the locations where Iran stores its ballistic missiles in the region.

GOVERNMENT APPROVED

In his statement, Starmer said that the US requested permission to use British bases to conduct limited and defensive strikes against the storage facilities and launch pads of the missiles fired at Iran, and that the government has approved this request. He emphasized that this step is necessary to reduce the risk of attacks from Iran in the region and to protect allies.

Starmer also reiterated that the focus of the British military presence is on defense, stating, "We believe that the only way to stop threats in the region is to destroy Iran's missiles at their source."

WILL NOT PARTICIPATE DIRECTLY IN OPERATIONS

In his statement, Starmer said that the US request is aimed at protecting the security of allies and is being evaluated within the framework of international law. The Prime Minister noted that the UK is not part of direct attack operations, stating that his country's role is limited to defense and coordination.

Starmer said, "We all remember the mistakes in Iraq, and we have learned those lessons. We did not participate in attacks against Iran, and we will not participate in aggressive actions now, but we allowed the US to use British bases."

A similar decision is expected to come from Germany and France as well.
