WHAT'S IN THE INVESTIGATION?
An investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office based on allegations in the written and visual media regarding Ayşe Barım's participation in the Gezi Park-focused events in Taksim. Barım was detained on the charge of "attempting to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties," as she was alleged to be one of the planners of the Gezi Park events.
The investigation included a tape of fugitive defendant Mehmet Ali Alabora's conversation with another person, which revealed that there was an exchange of ideas and implementation regarding the publication of a declaration with artists in Gezi Park during the Gezi Park-focused events.
It was stated that Barım had intense communication with Osman Kavala, Çiğdem Utku Mater, and Alabora, who are defendants in the Gezi Park case, and that she directed the artists she managed to participate in the events starting from 2013, the date of the Gezi Park events, and that she also participated in the events with these actors.
7 ACTORS GAVE TESTIMONY AS WITNESSES
As part of the investigation, the statements of actors Halit Ergenç, Bergüzar Korel, Mehmet Günsür, Ceyda Düvenci, Nejat İşler, Rıza Kocaoğlu, and Nehir Erdoğan were taken as 'witnesses'.
