The former settlement area of the village, which was submerged under the waters of the Pusat-Özen Dam in Sivas and emerged last year due to drought, has been submerged again under the dam waters following heavy rainfall. A resident of the village said, "This year, there was an unprecedented snowfall. The emptied dam has completely filled up."
In the Hafik district of Sivas, the water level of the dam, which was established for irrigation purposes on Pusat Creek and Madenköy Stream and began holding water in 2008, had dropped significantly in recent years due to drought, agricultural irrigation, and water supplementation to the September 4 Dam.
ONLY THE TIP OF THE MINARET IS VISIBLE
With the heavy rainfall and snowmelt during the winter period, the filling rate in the dam basin increased rapidly. The old settlement area of Pusat village, which had completely emerged during the period when the waters receded, is now once again fully submerged as the water level rises. Only a part of the mosque's minaret is visible in the area where the old village is located.
"AN UNPRECEDENTED SNOWFALL OCCURRED"
İbrahim Corut, a resident of Pusat village, said, "This year, an unprecedented snowfall occurred. The emptied dam was completely filled by this year's precipitation. In fact, as you will see below, the crescent of the mosque minaret in the old submerged village can be noticed on the water surface."
