Continuing their preparations for the new season, Galatasaray were defeated 2-1 by Spanish La Liga side Villarreal, who were their guests at RAMS Park.
A FAST AND EVENTFUL START TO THE MATCH
The opening minutes of the match were full of excitement. In the 2nd minute, following a challenge inside the penalty area, referee Kadir Sağlam pointed to the spot. In the 3rd minute, Ayoze Perez stepped up and converted the penalty, putting Villarreal ahead 1-0. Galatasaray Head Coach Okan Buruk, who fiercely protested the decision, was sent off in the 4th minute after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. Reacting immediately after Buruk's dismissal, the yellow-reds equalized in the 5th minute. Victor Osimhen rose well at the far post to meet Eren Elmalı's pinpoint cross and headed the ball into the net, making the score 1-1.
MIKAUTADZE DECIDED THE RESULT
In the latter stages of the first half, which was played with attacks from both sides, the visitors took the lead again. In the 41st minute, Georges Mikautadze took center stage and, with a fine chip, sent Villarreal into the dressing room leading 2-1.
