Commenting on the incident, Topçu described what happened: 'The individual hid between the municipality's vehicles. I know him from before and am aware he has a long criminal record. I have information that he was recently released from prison. He walked toward me, shouting and insulting me about why I switched from CHP to AK Party. Since I know him, I feared he might harm me and quickly moved away. During this, he continued shouting and cursing behind me. Noticing the situation, municipal police came to him, and then AK Party District Chairman Hüseyin Demir, who was in the area, approached him, asking him to leave and stop cursing. Meanwhile, I learned from our friends at the scene that the suspect had a scalpel in his hand. After arguing for a while with those trying to calm him, the individual left the scene. We have filed a complaint against the person regarding the incident.'"
