In the village of Gençali in Bartın, 78-year-old Zehra Günay went to the forest the day before yesterday to collect bay leaves and has since gone missing. Following a missing person report from her relatives, search efforts for the elderly woman were initiated by the teams. Search operations are continuing on the second day over an area of approximately 5 kilometers, involving a gendarmerie tracking dog, thermal drones, a team of 70 people, and local villagers.
Zehra Günay (78), who resides in the village of Gençali in Bartın, went to the forest to collect bay leaves around 2:00 PM the day before yesterday. When Günay did not return home, her relatives reported her missing.
SHE IS BEING SEARCHED EVERYWHERE
Following the report, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), gendarmerie, and commando teams were dispatched to the area yesterday morning. Search efforts began in an area of approximately 5 kilometers with a gendarmerie tracking dog, thermal drone, a team of 70 people, and villagers. No trace of the missing woman was found, while the search efforts were documented by drone.
"I SAW HER ON WEDNESDAY, AND NO NEWS HAS BEEN RECEIVED SINCE"
Ahmet Yüzgeç, the last person to see Zehra Günay before she went missing, said, "Aunt Zehra always went to collect bay leaves. I saw her on Wednesday. After that, no news was received. Now everyone is looking for her."
