The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council has decided to increase the passenger transport fare by 35%. With this increase, the full ticket price has risen from 26 lira to 35 lira.

With the decision taken in the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Council, the passenger transport fare tariff has been increased by approximately 35 percent.

35 PERCENT INCREASE IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

In the third meeting of December held in the Municipal Council Conference Hall, chaired by the First Vice President of the Council, Ertan Işık, the summary of the minutes from the previous meeting was voted on, and the agenda items were read.

During the meeting, the 13th agenda item, "Report of the Legal and Tariffs Commission regarding the determination of the passenger transport fare tariff," was put to a vote.

Despite the opposing votes from the AK Party and BBP, a decision was made by a majority vote to increase the passenger transport fare tariff in the capital by approximately 35 percent.

FULL TICKET PRICE RAISED FROM 26 TL TO 35 TL

With the increase, the full ticket price, which was 26 lira, has been raised to 35 lira.

AK Party Group Deputy Chairman of the ABB Council, Nihat Yalçın, regarding the increase, stated, "This is a decision that includes raising the tariffs of EGO buses within the ABB from 26 lira to 35 lira for the year 2026. Last month, the ABB President announced that transportation in Ankara would be free, and I took the floor here to understand how contradictory it is for such a decision to come a month later. Therefore, we continue to urge the Mayor to take steps to fulfill this promise."

Yalçın drew attention to the statements of ABB President Mansur Yavaş regarding the purchase of buses, and noted:

"He said, 'I will buy a thousand buses.' We will fully support whatever decision needs to be made in the Council regarding the purchase of a thousand buses. We will support this decision to the end. We invite Mr. Mansur Yavaş to fulfill the promise he made. We want to state that we do not approve of the transportation fare increase for this reason."
