Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reacted strongly to the labeling of police as "enemies" during the "Freedom for Öcalan" march in Diyarbakır. Speaking in front of cameras in Diyarbakır, Yerlikaya stated, "No one can dare to call our police, who selflessly serve and sacrifice, enemies. We will not allow this, and I condemn this statement."
In Diyarbakır, during a demonstration demanding freedom for Öcalan, tensions arose between the police and the marching group. Following the tension, the police used tear gas to disperse the group. DEM Party MP Adalet Kaya, who intervened to calm the situation, was affected by the tear gas, while the slogans shouted and the announcements made to the participants via megaphone drew reactions. "Comrades, the enemy says if you are not going to walk, do it here. We will go to those walls..." were the expressions used.
